This list is wonderful as I also bought the Casserole Crockpot. I’ve been hoping for some great recipes for it. As I have five or six crockpots, I use them very often, and with super results. I’m so looking forward to trying these recipes, as they are hard to find. love my crock-pots, summer or winter.

Thanks soooooo much for this list! I was one of the folks who asked if you had more recipes. When I had a chance to purchase three of the Casserole Crock-pots for the original price of one I snapped them up – one for myself and one for each of my daughters.

FAQs

What's the difference between a crock and a slow cooker? ›

As with a lot of cooking appliances, the biggest difference comes from the distribution of heat. The pot of the slow cooker usually sits on a base that houses the heating element on the bottom, while Crockpots have their pots inside of a container (or crock) and get heating from all sides.

Is 4 hours on high the same as 8 hours on low in a slow cooker? ›

The difference between "High" and "Low" on slow cookers seems to differ with every brand and model. One thing that is consistent, though, is that food takes seven to eight hours to reach a simmer point (around 210°) on low; versus three to four hours on high.

Which is better a slow cooker or a Crockpot? ›

There is no difference. They are essentially two terms for the same thing. Crock Pot is just a trademarked name for a certain brand of slow cooker that uses a crockery insert as a cooking vessel. Agree with most of the answers.

What happens if you slow cook on high instead of low? ›

Let's say you want to slow cook a pork roast recipe that calls for 8 hours on Low, but you need it done in much less than 8 hours. Switching to High for the sake of time savings can leave you with a roast that's dried out or even burned on the exterior, but undercooked and not at a food-safe temperature in the center.

Can you leave a slow cooker on high overnight? ›

Leaving a slow cooker on overnight is generally considered safe as long as it is used properly and in good working condition. Slow cookers are designed to cook food at a low temperature for an extended period of time, and they are built with safety features such as temperature controls and automatic shut-off functions.

Can I leave my slow cooker on high all day? ›

Yes, you can use your slow cooker for longer than eight hours, as long as you keep an eye on it. Many slow cookers do have an automatic shutoff after 24 hours.

What is the #1 crock pot? ›

Best Overall: All-Clad Gourmet Slow Cooker with All-in-One Browning, 7-Quart. This is so much more than a slow cooker. The All-Clad Gourmet Slow Cooker can saute, brown meat, simmer stews and cook rice!

Do potatoes go on top or bottom of meat in CrockPot? ›

Place firm, slow-cooking root vegetables like potatoes and carrots at the bottom of the crock and pile the meat on top. Cook time options include 4 or 6 hours on HIGH, or 8 or 10 hours on LOW. The corresponding light illuminates, the slow cooker heats, and the internal timer starts counting down the time. NOTE: WARM is ONLY for keeping already cooked food at the perfect serving temperature until you are ready to eat.

Put This Under Your Slow Cooker To Prevent A Mess

The next best option is to place your slow cooker on a baking sheet, a silicone baking mat, or a large wooden cutting board. All of these heat-resistant surfaces can also withstand moisture to prevent damage to your countertops.

Should you stir slow cooker? ›

Due to the nature of a slow cooker, there is no need to stir the food unless it specifically says to in your recipe. In fact, taking the lid off to stir food causes the slow cooker to lose a significant amount of heat, extending the cooking time required. Therefore, it is best not to remove the lid for stirring.

Can you slow cook in a Crockpot? ›

Crock-Pot™ Slow Cookers reach the simmer point and stabilize on both "High" and "Low" at about 209°F. If cooking with the high setting and food has been cooking for less than 5-6 hours, then turn the setting to low to slow down the cooking process.

Does a Crockpot cook faster on high or low? ›

Certainly, foods will cook faster on high than on low. However, for all-day cooking or for less-tender cuts, you may want to use the low setting. It's safe to cook foods on low the entire time -- if you're leaving for work, for example, and preparation time is limited.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of a Crockpot? ›

While there are some disadvantages to using a slow cooker, such as the risk of overcooking food or forgetting to turn it off, these generally pale in comparison to the benefits. For busy families or those who enjoy coming home to a hot meal, a slow cooker can be a great addition to any kitchen.

What makes a slow cooker a slow cooker? ›
