Diablo 4 Classes - Which Path Will You Take? (1)

Welcome back to yet another epic AccountKings blog! In this article, we'll discuss the Diablo 4 character classes; to help you come to a conclusion on the best path to take in-game. The game has only been on the scene a short while, so many newcomers are on the hunt for the knowledge of which path to take. Something not so easily done when so little is known, which is why we're here to give you the full picture and make your Diablo 4 journey perfect!

So, let's get into the finer details; first, we'll focus on the obvious.

What Classes Are In Diablo 4?

Firstly let's look at how many classes are in Diablo 4. The game has five overall, each with its specialty. So finding what fits you can take time, establishing your in-game role, what you're comfortable with, etc., so let's take a look!

Barbarian: This class specializes in melee attacks and has a high damage potential.

Rogue: Playing as this class will see you combining ranged and melee for your attacks and being highly adaptable with skills.

Sorcerer: If you are to choose this class, you'll be a ranger specialist and have great AOE (area of attack) abilities.

Necromancer: Choosing this class will see you on the frontline, being an assault specialist. Additionally, your crowd control will be exceptional.

Druid: This class can be considered an all-rounder, and you'll have a nice mixture of AOE and single-target attacks.

Now that we've established a little about the Diablo 4 classes let's get into which is best and why.

The unique skill tree of each class means you can pick and choose the abilities you utilize. Unlike Diablo 3 and its set character class appearance, Diablo 4 classes allow you to leave your own mark via customization. But we still have to answer the question, which of the classes in Diablo 4 is best?

Which Is The Best of The Diablo 4 Classes?

The answer to this question will vary from player to player, depending on their preferred skills, abilities, etc. However, the overall verdict seems to be that the Necromancer class takes the top spot as Diablo 4’s best class.

We believe this is due to the ability to be upfront and on the front line attacking, as well as the immense AOE damage potential. But, as we said above, this all comes down to your preferences. So if you're more into melee attacks and making things personal, Rogue may be the class for you.

Despite the difference between players and their playstyle, there is no denying the epicness of the Necromancer class; ruling over an undead army and leading the frontline will surely give any player some exciting battles and gameplay to enjoy.

Of the other three classes, there is a lot of fun to be had. So if neither of the above appeal to you, perhaps shape-shifting as a Druid will be more up your alley? Or a large Arsenal and savage attacks is more your style? If so, pursuing the Barbarian class is sure to be exciting. Lastly, we have the Sorcerer class, in which you can use your magic to excel in battle, using spells to soar to victory.

Now that we've briefly touched on each of the classes let's take a deep dive into each one, their skills, abilities, and more.

1. Necromancer

There has been a significant change from other Diablo 4 character classes with this class since previous Diablo games, with the fourth installment bringing some real depth to it. The Necromancer class has two sets of resources, the first being Essence, the primary resource. This is regenerative and is used to cast many spells that pack a punch. You can build upon your Essence by using some of the classes’ basic skills.

The second resource you'll have access to with this class is corpses. This is an excellent resource as it means that you can use the remains of the fallen to aid in your success. There are multiple uses for the corpses; you can use them to summon skeletons or use exclusive skills such as Corpse Explosion.

Another benefit to this Diablo 4 class is you will be the only one able to wield a scythe while also being able to access swords, wands, daggers, and more. Since we're taking a closer look at this class, let's look into the more important stuff, the skill and abilities.

Necromancer Skills

Reap - Deal damage by sweeping an ethereal scythe in front of you. If you land the hit, your damage reduction will be increased for a short time.

Blight- A concentrated blight is unleashed, dealing damage and leaving the attack area defiled, unleashing more damage slowly over time.

Corpse Explosion - This skill can see a corpse exploding to deal damage to enemies in the surrounding area.

Corpse Tendrils - The veins of the corpse in question burst forth, dragging in enemies. This stuns them and inflicts damage.

Necromancer Abilities

Hewed Flesh - Damage has a percentage chance of making a corpse nearby a target location. While fighting a boss, this chance is doubled.

Grim Harvest - Generates Essence by consuming a corpse.

Fuelled by Death - After the consumption of a corpse, your damage is increased for a short time.

Death's Embrace - Enemies who are close by will take more damage, and any inflicted on you will be lesser.

Next on our list to discuss is the Barbarian Class.

2. Barbarian

If you're looking for a Diablo 4 class that can take damage and keep going, Barbarian is for you. This class's health and strength levels by far surpass its competitors, and with each attack you inflict, your Fury will build. This build will allow for the use of the Fury skill in combat.

Excitingly, of all the Diablo 4 classes, this has a new mechanic to accompany it; the Arsenal System. Allowing the class to have four weapons slots so players can equip both single-handed and dual-handed weapons in the same build. Despite the fact wielding all these weapons may be overwhelming, when unleashing the Fury skill, your character will automatically use the best weapon for the job, making your attacks seamless.

Barbarian Basic Skills

Bash - When bashing enemies and dealing damage, you have a 20% chance of stunning enemies for 0.5 seconds.

Using this skill requires the use of a bludgeoning weapon and will generate 9 Fury.

Flay - Flaying an enemy and dealing damage inducing bleeding in an enemy for 6 seconds.

You'll need a slashing weapon for this skill, and it will provide 9 Fury.

Frenzy - Deal multiple blows and damage with each pair of hits. Using this skill increases attack speed by 20% for 3 seconds.

A dual-wielding weapon is needed, and you'll gain 5 Fury.

Lunging Strike - This skill sees you lunge forward and inflict damage on an opponent.

You'll gain 9 Fury from this move.

Barbarian Fury Skills

Rend - Cleave the enemies before you, deal damage, and inflict 5 seconds of bleeding.

You'll need a slashing weapon for this move, and it will cost you 25 Fury.

Hammer or the Ancients - Use the fury of the ancients to slam down your hammer and inflict damage upon a concentrated area.

A two-handed bludgeoning weapon is needed, and you'll need 20 Fury.

Double Swing - Sweep weapons back and forth from opposite sides, each weapon dealing damage; if an enemy is front and center, they will receive dual hits.

You'll need a dual-wielded weapon, and it will cost 25 Fury to do so.

Upheaval - Fling debris by tearing into the ground and deal damage to those in your path.

Two-handed weapons are needed, and the skill costs 30 Fury to use.

Whirlwind - Perform rapid attacks on enemies nearby and inflict damage.

For each second you use this, it will cost you 5 Fury.

3. Sorcerer

Of all Diablo 4 classes, this class focuses more on ranged attacks and Elemental damage, using lightning, fire, and frost to inflict damage and slay enemies. Despite having such exceptional attacks, the Sorcerer class, unfortunately, has the lowest amount of health, something to consider before you enter into battle.

When fully leveled, this Diablo 4 class can inflict heavy damage using the ultimate skill, which is excellent news; however, this class is far more effective when working in a party as opposed to solo.

Sorcerer Minor Destruction Skill

Lightning - A bolt or lightning is directed at an enemy, dealing damage and bouncing the lightning to other nearby enemies reducing their hits by 30%.

Fire Bolt - a flaming bolt is launched, inflicting damage, burning other opponents close by, and inducing enemy bleeding for 8 seconds.

Frost Bolt - A frosty bolt is thrown at an enemy dealing damage and chilling them.

Arc Lash - An arc of lightning shocks enemies directly in front of you and returns to you, restoring Mana.

This will regenerate 10 Mana.

Sorcerer Major Destruction Skills

Charger Bolts - Six bolts of lightning are released, creating an erratic pattern on the ground and inflicting damage.

This will cost 8 Mana.

Fireball - Throw a ball of fire that will explode on contact dealing damage to all nearby enemies.

The cost for this skill is 30 Mana.

Ice Shards - Launches five ice shards dealing damage to enemies in their path. Varying % will be inflicted on frozen enemies.

18 Mana is the cost for this skill.

Incinerate - A beam of fire is channeled, dealing damage to enemies. Damage can be increased per second.

Each second this skill is in use will cost 20 Mana.

Chain Lightning - A bolt of lightning inflicting damage and jumping to nearby targets.

Costs 35 Mana to use.

Frozen Orb - An orb that chills and inflicts piercing shards on enemies before exploding into Frost Bolts.

Using this skill costs 40 Mana.

4. Rogue

Next, in our Diablo 4 classes guide, we're taking a look into the Rogue class. Similarly to the first Diablo game, in this installment, the Rogue class is a hybrid. Combining both ranged and melee, you'll have multiple skills to assist you in battle. Additionally, this class has class-specific quests for you to embark on.

This class easily stands out from the rest due to its three specialization skills, combo points, shadow realm, and exploit weakness. So, let's take a little look at what exactly these are.

Rogue Class Skills

Shadow Realm - As a melee-focused Rogue, you'll be able to lure targets into a dark void. Another exciting factor is that any foe beyond the void will vanish, allowing you to take down those within the void somewhat safely.

Exploit Weakness - This specialization shows icons to indicate an enemy's weakness, making it easier to select and take down those around you.

Combo Points - This specialty allows players to accumulate points to spend on other skills.

The next thing we'll discuss regarding the Rogue class is the imbue skills accompanying the class.

Rogue Class Skills

Frost Imbue

Acid Imbue

Shadow Imbue

When used, all of the above imbue the skill/attack used by the Rogue with the self-titled effect.

Rogue Ranged Skills

Shadow Step - Using this skill will teleport you behind a target.

Dash - Whichever direction you are facing, you can dash in that direction.

Caltrops - While dashing backwards, caltrops are deployed behind you.

Rogue Melee Skills

Arrow Barrage - A barrage of arrows is sent at the enemy.

Rain of Arrows - While jumping into the air, you fire dozens of arrows at the ground, which repeatedly hit enemies that are in range.

5. Druid

The final of the Diablo 4 classes is Druid, the shapeshifting class. When using this class, you have the ability to shift into another form instantaneously in a single attack. Additionally, regardless of form, a Druid will be accompanied by two wolves at any given time. Another benefit of this class is the ability to master the elements, allowing you to call on them in human form.

When choosing the Druid class and mastering the skill tree, you have a few options—becoming an elemental master, focusing your energy on the shapeshifting aspect, or creating a hybrid build. The range of skills had by this class means they are very well suited to dealing with both multiple attacks or powerful singular targets. So it's safe to say there is a lot of excitement surrounding this class.

Druid Basic Skills

Earth Spike - Split the Earth's surface and impale the first enemy struck. Each successful hit from an Earth Spike increases your chance of dealing a Crushing Blow by 10%.

This skill generates 12 spirit.

Shred - Transform into your werewolf form and shred an enemy, inflicting damage. The use of this attack provides a 30% chance of a double strike.

Using this generates eight spirit.

Storm Strike - Your weapon of choice is surrounded by electricity which will deal and split damage between your chosen target and up to 3 other foes.

Generates 12 spirit when used.

Maul - Shift to werebear form and maul your enemy, inflicting damage and fortifying yourself.

18 spirit is generated from this skill.

Wind Shear - A piercing blade of wind is conjured, inflicting damage on an enemy and increasing speed for 3 seconds by 5%.

12 spirit is generated when this skill is used.

Druid Spirit Skills

Pulverize - Shift to werebear form and slam the Earth to inflict damage on nearby foes.

Using this skill costs 30 spirit.

30 spirit is the cost of this skill.

Tornado - A vortex that moves outwards is conjured, then curves randomly, and deals damage each second.

It will cost 20 spirit to use this skill.
