Air FryerBlueberry Jam Tarts

I grew upin a small seaside town in Yorkshire, England. It was famous for its awardwinning fish and chip shops, its roast beef pub dinners and its bakeries.

Wemoved away from Yorkshire in the September of 2004, but what we always loved todo when visiting is eat the delicious food.

Thebakeries are my biggest addiction. A bit like a French patisserie when you arespoilt for choice and want to eat it all!

One ofmy childhood favourites from the bakery was the delicious jam tart. You wouldlook at them sat in a row with a choice of different flavours and it would behard to pick just the one.

Before Iknew it, I will have left the bakery with a bag of different treats and claimthat the diet starts once they are all gone!

Thesame applied when we returned to Yorkshire briefly in the summer of 2018 while wewere on a road trip. I was in the local bakery so fast and it was nice to seethat my favourite bakery from childhood was still there.

What Is A JamTart?

A jam tart is a British jam filled pastry treat. If I was explaining it to a non-Brit, I would call it a blueberry jam mini tart.

Or it is like making air fryer blueberry turnovers, but instead of shaping for turnovers it is made into mini pie shapes.

There isno lid on a jam tart, and it is pie crust (also known as shortcrust pastry)that is filled ¾ full of jam and then baked in the air fryer or oven.

What Pastry IsJam Tarts Made Of?

How To Make JamTarts With Self Raising Flour?

You can swap the recommended plain flour for self raising flour instead. I find that if you use self raising flour it will be thicker and puff up a little bit. It makes a much better jam tart and they all look better.

How Long Do JamTarts Keep?

This depends on how you plan to keep your jam tarts once you have baked them. If your jam tarts are placed in the fridge in an air tight container they will last 5-7 days.

However, they are so good I would love to find someone with willpower that can keep their jam tarts for that long!
